The House

Vous serez à La Lavandière comme chez vous. Entre quiétude et confort, votre séjour se déroulera en toute sérénité.

The house

Our typical Charentese style house is situated in the centre of Voulême, a peaceful village, a few kilometres off the N10. Our lovingly kept garden overlooks the village square and offers a tranquil space to relax over a hot cup of something or a cold drink. When you enter the house the old building will welcome you with refreshing coolness in summer and cosy warmth in the winter months.

One section of the house is reserved for the guests, including use of the courtyard with a large sofa, sun loungers and a dining table where breakfast or dinner can be served. It is also ideal to relax in and have a drink in the cool shade.

Breakfast

Essential to a good start to the day we offer you a continental breakfast* consisting of fresh bread, croissants, home-made jams, fruit juice, yoghurt and freshly prepared fruit salad that are served with a hot drink of your choice (coffee, tea or hot chocolate). On request we are happy to cook some eggs to your taste, poached, fried, scrambled…

* included in the standard nightly rate

Dinner

We both love cooking, French dishes or meals inspired by our travels or personal heritage. Our organic vegetable garden and local producers supply the fresh ingredients we use. If you would like to have dinner** (or table d’Hote) at the La Lavandiere, just let us know in advance. We can offer a light supper, with a daily special, accompanied by a bottle of wine, desert and coffee, or a full dinner with an appetiser, starter, main dish and desert, with a bottle of wine and coffee. And if you are vegetarian or vegan, we will adapt the menu to suit your requirements.

** only in the evening and with 24 hour advance booking – Light supper: 19€/per person, Full menu: 25€/per person

Meet your hosts

After many visits to France over the years, we decided to permanently put our suitcases down in the South Vienne. We have lived in many places, Germany, the South of Africa, Brasil, and most recently in England. Hence we are happy to accommodate you in French, German, English, Portuguese and Afrikaans/Vlaams/Dutch.

Our passion is architecture and heritage in general, and we very much enjoy discovering this and the landscape of our new home region.
