A Charming Gîte for 6 People
Just opposite of our B&B, you will find our gîte, “La Maison de la Cloche”. It has a little bell (bell = cloche) tower on the roof, that was historically used to call the hunt back for meals; thus the name. Complimentary to our B&B, the gîte is perfect for a family or group of friends on holiday, especially as it has two reception rooms indoors and 2 outdoor spaces that can be used for socialising and relaxing.
In our gîte you will find spacious living areas.
On the ground floor, there is a large open plan kitchen-dining room with a fireplace, a bathroom with shower and WC, a laundry room with washing machine and a lounge with wood burning stove.
1st floor: large main bedroom (white) with double bed overlooking the small village square, a large bathroom with bath/shower and WC, a bedroom (blue) with double bed overlooking gardens and fields; and another large bedroom (pink) with a double bed also overlooking gardens and fields.
If you want to take a break from the ‘rush’ and have time to chill out and breathe, but still be within reach of many interesting places, offers and activities, this is the ideal spot.
There is a sun drenched patio area with bench/sun loungers, with direct access from the kitchen (approx 50 m²), looking out over gardens and fields towards the river Charente. There is also a cooler garden/patio area on the side of the house for hot summer days looking to the square. A wooden table with chairs, sun umbrella and a small BBQ is provided for fun times at home.
Put your walking or cycling shoes on! The gîte has easy immediate access to the great outdoors to do some hiking, cycling, fishing and bird watching. Basic bicycles can be provided on request. Wild swimming in the river is also possible (just ask for directions). Some outdoor and indoor games are provided for quieter days. There is a children’s play area and boules area only about 250m away next to the river and Mairie.
Within easy reach by car are many local attractions like the Vallée des Singes, the Futuroscope, Cognac, La Planète des Crocodiles, The Giants of the Sky – Flight Scene, many châteaux, markets, etc… Even seaside towns of interest like Bordeaux, Royan or La Rochelle are only approx 2 hours away for an easy day out.
Many excellent local restaurants can be recommended – just ask us for more information.
